Rajasthan Governor Shivraj Patil, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Assembly Speaker Deependra Singh Shekhawat, Congress general secretary Dijvijay Singh, Union Ministers of State, Sachin Pilot, Mahadeo Singh Khandela, and Jitendra Singh, members of the Rajasthan Council of Ministers and MLAs were present.

Ms.Patil and other speakers, including Mr. Shivraj Patil, Mr. Gehlot and Dijvijay Singh hailed Maharao Shekhaji, the 15 {+t} {+h} century social leader and reformer, after whom Shekhawati region and the Shekhawats are named, as an icon of religious harmony and a person who had set a shining example in equality and social harmony. The speakers also saluted the brave land of Shekhawati from where not only the country's top houses have emerged to spread their activities all over the country and the world, but also best of the soldiers in the nation's armed forces.
Noting that there were many schemes for poverty alleviation, employment generation, rural development, education and health and Ms. Patil said the need was to ensure that their benefits reached the target groups. The village panchayats can play a major role in making sure that the targeted population gained from the schemes, she said.
